New partnerships and an onsite clinic are making COVID-19 testing available right in Sun Peaks resort community.
“Access to COVID-19 testing in Sun Peaks helps protect those who live, work, and play in our mountain home and alleviates the need to travel to Kamloops for testing,” said Arlene Schieven, CEO of Tourism Sun Peaks.
The resort announced two separate testing procedures—one for symptomatic residents, guests, and employees who may have come in contact with COVID-19 and one for travellers seeking confirmation of a negative test to fulfill travel requirements.
Those experiencing symptoms of COVID-19
Sun Peaks Community Health Centre has partnered with Interior Health to provide COVID-19 testing in Sun Peaks. Starting December 17, symptomatic community members and guests will be able to make an appointment with the Health centre by calling 778-644-0635 and can receive a test between 3:30p.m. and 4:00 p.m. on December 17, 20, 22 and 29.
Testing resumes on January 5, 2022 and will be held on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. A physician will conduct a swab-test through the window of your vehicle directly outside the Community Health Centre. Individuals without a vehicle are asked to advise the receptionist when making their appointment.
For those travelling
Testing for travellers will be conducted by RN Collaborate, an independent, certified testing company. Guests are required to book an appointment at least 14 days prior to departure. Walk-ins will not be permitted.
Travellers requiring a negative COVID-19 test to return home will have access to Rapid Antigen, Molecular, including PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction) or NAAT (Nucleic Acid Amplification Test) tests.
Those who require test appointments prior to December 21 are asked to arrange a time and location with RN Collaborate, through their online form. After December 21, testing will take place in a small clinic beside the entrance to the Tourism Sun Peaks office at 3250 Village way.
