Trends Top BC Wine Awards open for entries

The 2025 Trends Top BC Wine Awards are now open, inviting wineries across British Columbia to showcase their best and gain meaningful recognition in a year that calls for renewal and resilience.

“This is a chance to celebrate not just great wines, but the perseverance of the people behind them,” says Yvonne Turgeon, awards chair and founder of Before & After Media. “Even after two challenging seasons, B.C. wineries continue to innovate, adapt and impress with the quality of their wines.”

To acknowledge the realities many growers are facing—while continuing to uphold the spirit of excellence at the heart of the awards—fees for wines made with imported grapes will be waived. This update ensures producers affected by crop losses aren’t excluded from a competition built to champion winemaking excellence across the province.

“The Top BC Wine Awards is a unique opportunity for small and up-and-coming wineries to compete against well-established brands and gain new exposure among B.C. wine lovers—to shine in the spotlight,” says Turgeon.

Medals will be awarded through blind tastings by a panel of expert judges, with winning wines gaining province-wide visibility.

The Trends Top BC Wine Awards are presented in collaboration with Orchard & Vine magazine and SippinPretty.co, offering broad exposure across both industry and consumer platforms. Launching this spring, SippinPretty.co offers a curated platform highlighting wine events, insider picks and destination experiences—building from more than a decade of wine writing by Turgeon.

Last year’s Best of Show honours went to standout wineries: Rainmaker Wines earned Top White for its Viognier, The Wine Umbrella took Top Red with its Co-Syrah, Dirty Laundry Vineyards won Top Rosé, and Volcanic Hills Estate Winery took Top Icewine for its Zweigelt.

“Every winery has a story to tell,” says Turgeon. “This year, we want to help those stories reach even further—whether it’s through a medal, a mention or a moment in front of a new audience.”
