Quadball Canada unveils Vernon, BC as host city for the 2023 Western Regional Championship

Hold on to your broomsticks and summon your inner wizardry, because Quadball Canada has just announced that the enchanting city of Vernon, British Columbia, will be the spellbinding host for the highly anticipated 2023 Western Regional Championship, Nov 11-12. This action-packed event, in partnership with Tourism Vernon, promises to deliver an unforgettable quadball experience.

Drawing inspiration from the famous game of quidditch, Quadball Canada has cast its own unique spell upon the world of sports. Played by teams of four, quadball has been captivating hearts and minds across the nation.

Quadball Canada has conjured up its own unique blend of excitement on the pitch.

Picture this: teams battling it out, giving their all to outscore their opponents and claim victory. With up to 21 players per roster, including Keepers, Chasers, Beaters, and Seekers, the quadball match becomes an epic display of skill, strategy, and teamwork. The objective is simple yet demanding — the Chasers and Keeper work together to pass the quaffle, the scoring ball, through the opposing team’s hoops, earning their squad a well-deserved 10 points each time.

But beware, for quadball introduces its own magical twist. The Beaters, armed with bludgers, use these enchanted balls to disrupt the flow of the game. A well-executed bludger hit can temporarily remove players from action, compelling them to release any balls they possess, briefly dismount their brooms, tag a hoop, and swiftly return to the game. It’s a strategic battle to gain control of the bludgers and turn the tides in one’s favor.

And just when the excitement reaches its peak, the Snitch Runner makes a grand entrance. At the 18-minute mark, the Seekers spring into action, racing to capture or defend the elusive snitch tail. This small, swift ball is securely fastened to the Snitch Runner’s attire. Capturing the snitch tail not only brings the game to a thrilling climax but also awards the capturing Seeker’s team a substantial 30 points. The race to seize victory becomes a heart-pounding spectacle!
