After 15 years as a downtown Kelowna retail landmark, Lakehouse Homestore has officially closed its doors. But while the shop’s signature style and hospitality are taking a bow, the next chapter is heating up just one floor above.
Lakehouse Kitchens Cooking School, now a completely separate company from the original retail business, continues to thrive under the leadership of Chef Travis Pye. Alongside an in-house café and wine bar, the kitchen-focused hub is reimagining what Lakehouse can mean for the community—with immersive culinary experiences, new partnerships, and a continued commitment to gathering and connection.
“We’re honouring the past, but cooking up something fresh,” says Pye. “Lakehouse was always about more than a store—it was about learning, creating, and sharing. That’s the spirit we’re building on.”
Programming has expanded to include more hands-on cooking classes—from beginner basics to chef-led specialties—along with curated retail moments, an upgraded café menu, and an event-friendly calendar perfect for corporate team building or holiday celebrations.
August classes are underway, and September’s lineup promises new guest chefs, evolving culinary themes, and collaborations designed to celebrate the Okanagan’s food and wine culture.
The Lakehouse Homestore closure also marks a moment of gratitude for founders Ben and Sue Boschman, whose vision helped shape a distinctive destination in Kelowna’s urban core. Their legacy continues in the kitchen—and in every bite that follows.
