Theatre lovers in Kamloops —in avatar form— are heading to the Remergence Festival. Streamed online, the festival features ten days of improv, variety acts and music from May 5 to 15.
Western Canada Theatre has partnered with Chimera Theatre to present the streaming festival, including an interactive digital experience for each festivalgoer.
Making use of a service called Gather Town, audience members can visit the lobby, take a look at festival posters and interact with others through a digital avatar. Opening and closing nights of the festival are free for all audiences to log in and interact.
The Remergence Festival features over 24 talented local acts, covering theatre, music, improv and variety. On the line-up are The Freudian Slips, Partners in Crime (Cvetozar Vutev and Curtis Howell) and the Kamloops Burlesque.
Each evening will include two stage performances with live music during intermission. See the full festival schedule at remergencefestival.ca
The family-friendly matinée will take place on Saturday, May 8th, and it will be free of charge.
Tickets are available from Kamloops Live! Box Office (kamloopslive.ca) and can be purchased as an evening pass for three performances ($20) or as a full-festival pass, for $150.
